With only 15 miles on the odometer this Jeep Rubicon has already traveled through 3 different states. Our customer ordered his brand new 2021 Rubicon Jeep Wrangler from a dealership in North Carolina. Then had it delivered to us here in Jasper, GA. Once we completed the build it was sent to his home in Alabama.
While we were waiting for the Jeep
to come off the assembly line a build plan was created. Working closely with our customer each piece
of the build was picked. We were able to
locate a set of Black
Rhino Abrams wheels in a 17x9.5. We
chose the gloss black wheel with a machined dark tint lip to set off the Jeep’s
paint. Once the wheels were chosen, we
decided to wrap them with a set of Cooper Discoverer STT Pro’s, which measure
37 inches tall and 13.5 inches wide.
This combination really fills up the wheel wells.
A Rusty’s Off Road 2” Plus kit was used to make room for
the new larger tire and wheel combination.
Rusty’s kit uses a dual rate coil spring with track
bars and lower control arms that are fully adjustable. The dual rate progressive coil springs for
the JL lift were designed in collaboration with the engineers at Eibach. Whether on
the highway or a bumpy clay road a smooth comfortable ride is provided. A track
bar frame brace was included as Jeep has had issues with the factory mount
ripping from the frame. Front and rear
axles are secured with 2 inch DOM adjustable lower
control arms that correct the wheel base after being lifted an enable the
pinion angle and castor to be dialed in properly.
To dampen the load a set of Falcon
SP 2.1 shocks were used along with the matching Nexus
EF 2.2 steering stabilizer. The
Falcon 2.1 shocks provide increased stability, improved ride quality, and
comfort for daily driven Jeeps.
Some additional lighting was
needed with modern technology but with a traditional style. A pair of PIAA 6”
round led lights were mounted on the A pillar. These lights use a 6000k white
output light to replicate daylight for better illumination at night.
N-Fab Podium steps were chosen to
provide easier access in and out of the Jeep.
We love the quality of these steps and the
large flat surface makes it much easier to use then other brands on the market.
A Warn VR 10,000
pound winch was mounted using a Rusty’s Off
Road Winch plate. The plate is designed
to work with the stock Rubicon steel bumper.
Factor 55 finishes of the front end with a red ProLink. Engineered and machined in the USA from
lightweight billet 6061 aluminum, the ProLink provides a safe means to easily attach a
standard 3/4″ screw pin shackle to existing winch cable and rope eyes.
Finally, we had to address the rear of the Wrangler to finish off the build. A 37-inch tire is too much weight for the stock tailgate and hinges to bare by themselves. We turned yet again to a Rusty’s for their American made heavy duty tire carrier that can hold up to a 40-inch tire. The new carrier uses a 4-bolt design per hinge, reinforcement plate inside the body, and a combination of 3/16 inch and ¼ inch steel. A total of 16 bolts are used to mount the tire carrier. This robust construction allows you to easily open the tailgate with one hand. Provisions for the rear camera and third brake light are included. The carrier not only works flawlessly it also looks terrific as it is E-coated and powder coated.
Oracle Lighting developed a reverse light that seamlessly integrates into the bumper reflector area to provide over 1000 additional lumens when backing up in the Jeep JL. The installation uses factory mounting hardware, and these lights tie into the reverse light wiring with the included T-taps.
