Project P-Nut

Project PNUT is a 2016 Jeep JK that  This next stage included some new bumpers, lights, gears, and other axle upgrades.  Be sure to follow along below with the list of upgrades.

First up is a Body Armor mid stubby front bumper (PN JL-19532) with the optional tube grill guard. (PN JL-5124)

The FlatLink E (PN 00080-06) provides a means to eliminate the conventional winch hook and replace it with a safer and more secure screw pin shackle resulting in a CLOSED SYSTEM WINCHING operation. The large pear shaped shackle mounting hole allows for attachment to either the pin or bow end of common screw pin shackles, as well as common OEM recovery points. 

Baja Designs Squadron Sport led lights are one of the best on the market.

The Driving/Combo pattern is equipped with both Driving (42-degree) and spot (9-degree) optics to provide you with a smooth blend of light for both near field applications and distance (Lighting Zone 3).

We followed up in back with a matching Body Armor full width rear bumper with tire carrier.  (Bumper PN JK-2965) (Tire carrier PN 5297)  Baja Designs squadron sports were also used in the rear but the wide cornering lens were a better fit in the back. (PN 557803)

The lower gearing will help motivate PNUT on the highway and the TrueTrac limited slip differential will help in the slippery conditions. (PN 913a589)

The real insurance is a set of of Motobilt differential covers. The Dana 30 HD steel diff cover features a 3/8" thick steel ring that will keep the cover from pulling away from the housing when dragging over rocks. The Dana 30 HD steel diff cover also features the proven 1/4" thick steel plate design with an integrated 3/4" NPT fill plug.

The key feature that sets the APEX truss apart is its unique peaked shape top which provides extra rigidity to the whole truss while allowing both a reduction in weight (vs using a thicker material top) and eliminating long weld seams. Previous versions with long weld seams can lead to extra weld warping of the axle, longer install times and can be inconsistent. This peaked structure not only applies to the axle tube between the coil perches but extends underneath the coil perches as well, forming a complete truss from end to end of axle, an industry first in an OEM axle application. The JK APEX Truss that was secretly tested for over a year and a half proving that even though the truss is lighter weight, the peaked structure of the truss holds up to both extreme applications and daily driving.

These heavy duty skids are designed to take serious abuse and reinforce your front Dana 30 or 44 JK Inner C's. The 1/4" thick precision cut and formed components of this setup out perform the competition.

The factory Jeep JK front drive shafts are notorious for failing once you lift the Jeep, so we installed a heavy duty unit from Adams Drive Shafts.

  • Made out of 2" X .120 Wall D.O.M. tubing that is Double the Strength of the Factory Tubing and will clear the exhaust and cross member eliminating damage to the driveshaft at full droop.
  • Has Long Full Spline Slip n Stub unlike some of our Competitors.
  • Built only with Components made by Spicer and Neapco.
  • Has the Strongest Greasable U-joints on the Market.
  • Has a Heavy Duty Flange on it that fits your OEM Pinion Flange so it is Easier to install and you won't need to Disturb the Crush Sleeve.
  • Comes with Grade 10 CV Bolts with small heads on them so they are easier to install and a Packet of Loctite.

PNUT didn't stop with the drive train either as a full make-over from Bartact was completed on the interior.
