Just open up the Jowl® shackle hooked sides, insert your recovery rope or tow strap looped end, rotate the end of the tow rope or strap to engage both sides of the shackle, pull tight and you are ready to recover your stuck vehicle.
We designed the Jowl® with a D-Ring shackle shape for those off-roaders who prefer a more traditional shackle look on their rigs. Built-in pull angle stops are visual reminders that give you feedback to help you keep your pull angles low keeping your recovery safe and as efficient as possible.
The Jowl® Recovery Shackle fits any 2.0 or 2.5 inch D-Ring tow shackle receiver hitch bracket mount with a 7/8" (0.875") pin hole and a mount width of 1-1/4" (1.25") or less.
PLEASE NOTE: A very popular bumper mount hole inside diameter is often listed on bumper specs information as 1.0 inch. Many manufacturers use this common bore size when machining their mounts. However, after coating the entire bumper including the inside of the mount holes with thick textured or powder coatings this added thickness decreases the inside diameter of the holes well under 1.0 inch, down to around 0.950in, making the hole size too small for a 1.0 inch pin. In most cases a 1.0 inch diameter hole is intended for a 3/4 size shackle that has a 7/8” (0.875in) pin diameter. If your bumper has 1.0 mount holes please refer to our VEHICLE SIZE RECOMMENDATION GUIDES for further assistance.
All color options are fully interchangeable. Buy two different color shackles and combine them to match the color scheme of your rig and give your build a more custom accented look. The hooked sides are fully covered with a durable powder coating pantone color matched to popular truck and Jeep colors. The shackle pin is Black Nickel plated and machined from High Strength Grade 8 Carbon Steel.
This 5T (10,000 LB WLL) forged chromoly steel shackle is guaranteed to speed up vehicle recovery so you can spend more time enjoying the trail instead of being stuck in it.
Built-in rubber anti-chatter pads stop the hooked sides from rattling against each other as you navigate the roughest trails.
Each shackle includes four durable nylon shackle isolators. Two 3.0mm thick washers and two 2.0mm thick washers help you center your Jowl® shackle on any width bumper shackle mount, gusset, winch rope, or shackle receiver.
We made mounting the Jowl® easy. The shackle pin is secured by two Metric M18 cap screws that accept any 1/4" socket wrench. Just grab two 1/4 inch ratchets and easily remove or attach the shackle to your vehicle without the need to find the correct allen keys or hex wrenches out on the trail. (Bonus: only one screw needs to be removed to attach or remove the shackle from your vehicle adding to the speed and functionality of this design.) Two 6mm Hex to 1/4" square drive adapters are also included with each Jowl® split shackle® for easy installation.

Raw Dog - Uncoated (See warning below - will rust if left uncoated)
The "Raw Dog" uncoated option is ready to add primer and paint or powder coating so you can color match your vehicle or just add any finish of your choosing. Only the Jowl® hooked bodies should be powder coated, not the pin. Coating the pin will hinder the assembly functionality. (***Please note: this option will show signs of weathering and rust if left uncoated.)

Please verify the part number that you are ordering before you place your order. If a part is ordered incorrectly by the customer and then returned, the customer will be responsible for all shipping charges and will be subject to a 20% restocking fee. We cannot be held responsible for manufacturer misinformation. If we messed up the order, then of course, we will take care of it. An RGA number must be requested within 7 days of receipt of the product by the customer. Returns must be received within 30 days of the initial purchase. After 30 days we do not accept returns. If an RGA is requested after 7 days of receiving the product then only an in-store credit will be issued. We do not refund shipping costs.
Allreturns require an RGA (Return Goods Authorization) number.Please email: cs@thejeephut.com, to obtain this number. Please allow 24-48 hours for a response during busy times.
The RGA number must be marked on a label outside of the returned box. Do not write on the retail packaging or it will void the return.
All returned goods must be sent freight prepaid by the customer.
A 20% restocking fee will be applied to all returned goods.
All returned merchandise will be inspected before credit is applied to the account.
All items that receive credit will need to be in NEW, UNUSED, and resellable condition including original packaging with all components. The product cannot be altered, damaged or missing pieces.
If you refuse deliveries from shipping carriers, this will result in penalty charges. The shipping return cost(s) will be deducted from your refund amount.
If the item is a warranty issue, please contact the manufacturer for warranty.
Warranty issues will not be refunded after 30 days. Warranties are handled through manufacturers.
Please understand that damage in shipping is the shippers fault not ours. We simply ship it to you. If you do receive a damaged package, we must follow the procedure indicated by the carrier. Please contact the carrier first prior to contacting JeepHut. If you do not have time to wait, we can process another order for you and refund after the shipping claim has been approved.
Any scratch and dent, surplus, overstock, garage sale, used products, and eBay auction merchandise will not be refunded.All merchandise is sold “AS IS” and all sales are final.A description of each item will be posted. The best description possible will be given.
No returns on custom or fabrication work including paint, custom design, modification and fabrication of parts
No returns are accepted on special orders, factory dropships, and body parts.
No returns on electrical or Audio (No Exceptions), Issues must be handled with manufacturer under warranty.
Locker and Gear returns must be received with full inspection showing no use, installation or wear. All parts and packaging must be in new unused and undamaged condition.
Tires or wheels once mounted are not accepted for returns. Only factory replacement if defective under the manufacturer's warranty with their approval can be provided.

Orders cannot be shipped to PO boxes. We must have a physical address to ship merchandise to.

JeepHut is not responsible for freight damages. Please inspect merchandise before signing for. All claims must be made with the shipping carrier. We will not refund payment due to freight damages.

Orders placed after hours or on weekends may not be able to be canceled. In an effort to provided timely services many of our products are shipped immediately and once processed can not be stopped.
